About us
AvantCAD is an engineering and CAD firm providing 3D modeling, fabrication documentation, and structural engineering support to industrial clients across Belgium and Netherlans. We are looking for an experienced mechanical design engineer to lead the design of bulk material handling equipment.
What you’ll do:
- Design and engineer bulk material handling equipment, including belt, chain, drag, roller, and pneumatic conveyors, bucket elevators, screw conveyors and feeders, silos, hoppers, bins, and chutes
- Perform design calculations for capacity, power, belt tension, screw sizing, and drive selection, and size the supporting steel structures
- Build 3D models and produce general arrangement, assembly, and fabrication drawings, plus bills of materials
- Select components such as drives, gearboxes, bearings, idlers, and pulleys
- Work directly with clients and workshops to turn requirements into buildable, cost-effective designs
- Review drawings and mentor less experienced engineers and drafters
What we’re looking for:
- 5+ years of experience designing bulk material handling equipment or similar
- Strong knowledge of conveyor and screw design principles and relevant standards
- Good understanding of material properties such as flowability, abrasiveness, and bulk density, and how they affect equipment design
- Proficiency in either Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks;
- Experience preparing fabrication-ready drawings for steel workshops
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken (mandatory).
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects from concept to fabrication
Nice to have:
- Experience with silo design and discharge equipment
- FEA experience, such as Inventor Stress Analysis
- 3D Point cloud work experience
