Read this part first
Two things decide whether this role fits you, and we'd rather you know both before you read another line.

One — the schedule. You work 14:00–22:00, because that is when our U.S. leadership and operations teams are online and you will be talking to them every day. This is not flexible. If those hours don't fit your life, this isn't the right role, and that's fine.

Two — you sit with the developers. Not above them. Not in a separate meeting room where requirements get thrown over a wall. Shoulder to shoulder, at the same table, every day. If you want a role where you write specs and check a dashboard, keep scrolling. If you want to watch the thing get built and catch the problem at 16:00 instead of in next week's review, read on.

This posting is in English on purpose. You will work in English every day. Romanian is required for the local team.

About us
APL Cargo Inc is a U.S.
trucking carrier running a fleet of 78 trucks. Our Chișinău office is home to our internal development team.

Everything we build lives in APL Hub — our central internal platform. All tools, integrations, dashboards, documentation, and our knowledge base sit in one place, and APL Hub is the single source of truth for how the company runs.

We are not a software vendor. We build for ourselves, we see the results in the fleet within weeks, and nobody has to guess whether the work mattered.

Your employer is APL Solutions S.R.L., our Moldovan company and a resident of Moldova IT Park.

The role

You decide what gets built in APL Hub.

The core loop of this job is simple to describe and hard to do well:

understand what the owner needs → turn it into a real, scoped project → reconcile it with him → build it with the dev team, side by side.

You will sit between the owner, every department in the company, and our internal development team. You report directly to the owner — there is no layer between you and the person making the decisions. When something is unclear, you go ask him.

Every new tool or feature request — including the ones the owner raises himself — routes through you first. You run discovery, you check whether we already built it, and only then does development start. That authority is the job.

Shoulder to shoulder with the dev team

This is the part most product roles get wrong, so we'll be explicit about it.

You will work next to the developers, daily, in the same room. You will:

  • Sit with them while the thing is being built, not wait for a demo
  • Understand what data we actually have and how it flows through APL Hub — well enough to know when a request is easy and when it's expensive
  • Catch the misunderstanding on day one, not at UAT
  • Take their technical input seriously — feasibility shapes what you recommend to the owner
  • Be the person who verifies the work against real data before anything goes live

You don't need to write code. You do need to earn the developers' respect by understanding what you're asking them for.

What you'll actually do

  • Meet with departments (Operations, Dispatch, Accounting, Safety, Shop & Equipment, HR) to understand what's slowing them down
  • Turn ideas — from the owner, from departments, from drivers — into scoped projects with clear acceptance criteria
  • Reconcile scope, priority, and trade-offs directly with the owner, then recommend a path
  • Own the backlog and the roadmap for internal tools
  • Work alongside developers, day to day, from idea through release
  • Map what data we have and how it moves through APL Hub
  • Audit tools we've already built and confirm they produce correct, usable results
  • Identify the apps and integrations we still need, and make the build-vs-buy call
  • Act as the acceptance gate — nothing ships until you've verified it works against real data
  • Manage internal users, roles, and access in APL Hub
  • Onboard and train internal users on what ships
  • Report to the owner every week on what was implemented and what it delivers

What we're looking for
Required

  • 2 years in product management, product ownership, or a delivery role where you owned what got built, not just when it shipped
  • Proven experience turning vague stakeholder requests into clear, buildable requirements
  • Experience working directly and daily with developers
  • Fluent English — written and spoken, daily, with U.S. leadership
  • Entry Romanian — for the local team
  • Availability to work 14:00–22:00, Monday–Friday, on-site in Chișinău
  • Comfort with data: you can look at a number on a dashboard and ask whether it's actually correct

Nice to have

  • Background in logistics, transportation, or fleet operations
  • Familiarity with TMS platforms (McLeod / DataTruck) or fleet systems (Samsara, FleetRock)
  • CSPO, PMP, CSM, or PMI-ACP certification
  • No-code / low-code familiarity for evaluating and prototyping solutions
  • Experience owning an internal platform or internal tool ecosystem

Why this role is worth your time

  • Direct line to the owner. Your recommendations go to the person who decides. No committee.
  • Real authority. You are the mandatory routing point for new work — including requests from leadership.
  • Next to the builders. You see your decisions become working software in the same room, in the same week.
  • Visible impact. 78 trucks. What you ship changes how they run, and you'll see it in the numbers.
  • Build, don't maintain. APL Hub is growing. There is a lot left to define.

Compensation & employment

  • From $1,200 to $1,500 net per month, based on performance
  • Official employment as a Moldova IT Park resident — you receive your salary in full, with no payroll withholdings
  • Full-time, on-site, Chișinău
