About the Role
We are looking for an experienced SRE / DevOps Engineer to join a growing team developing an Energy Management System (EMS) that monitors and controls live power plants and supports a 24/7 dispatch center.
You will own the platform’s runtime infrastructure, including cloud and local servers, deployments, observability, backups, redundancy, and failover. Your focus will be keeping production systems reliable, detecting issues early, and ensuring recovery procedures work when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, maintain, and secure EU-hosted cloud VMs and local servers, including patching, capacity planning, and infrastructure documentation.
  • Operate Docker and Docker Compose environments across development, staging, and production.
  • Build and maintain metrics, dashboards, centralized logging, and actionable alerts with clear escalation routes.
  • Implement and test database backups, restoration, replication, and failover for PostgreSQL/TimescaleDB and Redis.
  • Develop reliable CI/CD pipelines, deployment procedures, and tested rollback mechanisms.
  • Manage networking and connectivity between cloud infrastructure, offices, and power plants, including VPNs, firewalls, DNS, TLS, and nginx.
  • Automate recurring operational tasks using Bash and Python.
  • Support the setup of dispatch center and office infrastructure, including workstations, UPS, local networks, and secure remote access.
  • Investigate incidents, document root causes, and implement preventive measures.
  • Create and maintain runbooks that enable other engineers to operate and recover the platform.

Required Experience and Skills

  • 4+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or systems engineering.
  • Strong hands-on Linux expertise, including services, systemd, storage, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Experience provisioning, patching, and hardening cloud VMs, managing TLS certificates, and configuring reverse proxies.
  • Practical experience with physical and on-premise servers, including familiarity with UPS, RAID, and remote management.
  • Production experience with Docker and Docker Compose, container registries, image management, and deployment patterns that minimize downtime.
  • Experience with Prometheus and Grafana, or equivalent monitoring tools.
  • Experience managing log pipelines, rotation, and retention using tools such as Fluent Bit or the ELK stack.
  • Ability to design meaningful alerts based on service health and user impact.
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL backup, restore, and replication, as well as Redis persistence and failover.
  • Understanding of service recovery, load balancing, and recovery objectives such as RTO and RPO.
  • Networking knowledge covering VPNs such as WireGuard, firewalls, DNS, TLS, and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines as code, using GitHub Actions or similar tools.
  • Scripting skills in Bash and Python.
  • English sufficient for technical documentation and vendor communication; B1 preferred.

Nice to Have

  • Infrastructure as code and configuration management using Ansible or Terraform.
  • PostgreSQL performance tuning, TimescaleDB, or MongoDB.
  • Experience operating Celery, message brokers, worker scaling, and Flower.
  • Cloudflare configuration, including ingress, DNS, and tunnels.
  • MikroTik, managed switches, and 4G/LTE connectivity.
  • Familiarity with IEC 62443, NIS2, IT/OT segmentation, or secure access to industrial environments.
  • Sentry administration.
  • Kubernetes experience; the current platform uses Docker Compose.
  • Experience designing on-call processes.

Your Approach

  • Stay calm and focused during production incidents.
  • Make careful, controlled changes to production systems.
  • Automate recurring work and document operational procedures.
  • Share knowledge and collaborate closely with developers and infrastructure colleagues.
  • Approach incident reviews openly, focusing on causes and improvements.

Initial Priorities

  • During your first months, you will focus on documenting the infrastructure, establishing observability, testing database restoration and service failover, and improving deployment reliability.
  • Success means clear operational runbooks, useful dashboards and alerts, measured recovery times, tested rollbacks, and documented follow-up actions for incidents.

Working Conditions

  • Remote work with responsibility for both cloud and local infrastructure.
  • A role in a growing team building technology for the energy sector.
  • Direct collaboration with infrastructure, development, and cybersecurity specialists.
  • Compensation discussed during the interview process.
  • Three-month probation period.
